Obituary
Mr. Joseph Dennis Sr., 74, of Disputanta Virginia born on November 3, 1948 in Prince George County, passed away suddenly on July 2, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. Dennis or “Joe D” as he was affectionately known, worked at Hercules plant for over 30 years. He also worked for Prince George Public Schools for several years. However, his greatest and proudest work experience was as a servant and preacher of Jehovah. After his baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Brother Dennis served faithfully for over 50 years - during which time he served as a Ministerial Servant and Elder. In his service, Brother Dennis always found the opportunity to speak about Jehovah and his kingdom, encouraging many to stand firm in the faith. During his illness he spoke often about his hope and faith in the resurrection. He would say “don't worry about me cause Jehovah promises I will return healthy and perfect.”
One thing for sure, those who knew Brother Dennis would agree that he would greet you with a big smile, a firm handshake, and a bear hug. We will definitely miss his welcoming greeting.
In addition to his love for his family, he had great passion and love of cars. He loved working on them and hearing the motors roar. Mr. Dennis also enjoyed fishing, and a good ‘ol meal.
There are so many things we will miss about Brother Dennis, Mr. Dennis, Joe D, or whatever you knew him by. He would tell his children that a man would be remembered by his name and his word. In his case, we will remember both. We will think of him often and say “do you remember when he use to do this or say that”. For those who share his faith, we will see him again - healthy and ready to greet us with that unforgettable smile.
Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, Roosevelt; and a sister, Lilia Hartfield.
Mr. Dennis is survived by his devoted loving wife of 52 years, Isabelle Dennis (Ripley) whom he married on October 10, 1969. From their union there are four children -Norris Ripley (Vicky), Joseph Dennis Jr. (Tina), Regina Beavers (Deon), and Jeveil Dennis and six grandchildren, Raven, Norris, Mateo, Asiana, Jayden, and Jace.
To treasure his memory he leaves behind three brothers, Herbert, John, and Martin Dennis; four sisters, Lorraine Jackson, Viola Dennis, Mabel Thomas, and Alma Gilchrist; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many devoted spiritual brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, to include but not limited to, Randy Wyche, Usfer Barr, Tony Branch, Andrew Jones, Tim Aronwitz and Vanessa Olajuwon.
It is with love that we want to thank everyone who supported the family, provided a meal, or just made a daily phone call to say hello. As difficult as this time is for his family and friends we can all say we look forward to the time when we will say, “LIFE WITHOUT END AT LAST.”
