Obituary
Tyler Allen McCray-Carter, 23, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a heartbroken family and countless memories that will never be forgotten.
Tyler was truly one of a kind. He had a personality that could light up a room, a beautiful smile that was impossible to forget, and a style that was completely his own. But if you knew Tyler, you knew his hair was something special to him. His long, curly hair was one of his two favorite features, along with his smile. He would look in the mirror and proudly say, “My curls are poppin’ today!” He used more hair products than most women, making sure every curl was just right before leaving the house. He always had a hat or bandana to match his outfit and would ask, “Which one should I wear?” before heading out.
Tyler had his own way of doing everything—including taking his sweet time getting ready. He could be so slow that he would still be getting ready when I was already walking out the door. Those little things that could once make us impatient are now the memories we would give anything to have back.
Whenever Tyler said goodbye, he had his own signature way of doing it: “Stay dangerous.” Those two words will forever bring a smile through the tears and remind us of the unique person he was.
Tyler was a loving brother and son who shared a special bond with his siblings. He was especially close with his younger sister Alyson and his little brother Cayden. He loved his family deeply, even when he didn't always show it in the way we expected.
Losing his father in March 2018 changed Tyler forever. A part of him was never quite the same after that loss. Although we will never understand why Tyler was taken from us so soon, I find comfort in believing that he is finally with his dad again—where I imagine they are together, smiling, laughing, and catching up.
Tyler is survived by his loving mother, Tristan McCray; his sisters, Alyson Gibbs, Kyndell Pollard, and Cassidy Taylor; his little brother, Cayden McCray, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Carter.
Tyler's life was far too short, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him will last forever.
