Obituary
Ms. Patsy Smith Parker, 76, entered into eternal rest peacefully on December 13, 2023 in Hampton, Virginia surrounded by her loving friends and family.
She was born in Danville, Virginia and was the daughter of the late William and Esther Mae Toler Smith. She spent most of her upbringing years in Danville, Virginia.
Patsy graduated from John M. Langston High School in Danville, Virginia and Durham Business School with an accounting degree which paved the way for her over forty year career with various telecommunication companies. She worked dutifully as an operator, service technician and customer service representative for the phone company, Pitney Bowes and TCI Cable respectively before retiring.
In her retirement, Patsy enjoyed tending to community elderly organizations and pursuing her passions for gardening, sewing and interior decorating. Her creative and nurturing spirit were gifts she shared with many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther Smith Toler; and one brother, Nathaniel Smith.
Patsy’s family remembers her for her kind heart, talkative nature and joy she found in helping others. Her unforgettable style and sassy nature will be missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
She lives to cherish her memories, her son, Trestian Parker; two grandchildren, Aaron Carter and Rasean West; two sisters, Carolyn Kernodle and Phyllis Sadler; several cherished nieces and nephews; a host of relatives and friends.
Celebration of life services for Ms. Patsy Smith Parker will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday,
December 22, 2023 at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia, Pastor Kevin L. Kernodle, Sr., Penhook, Virginia, Eulogist.
The family is asked to assemble at 1:45 p.m. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment the day of the service.
Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, 100 Walters Mill Road, Danville, Virginia.
