Obituary
Mrs. Rose Lee Barksdale Womack entered into eternal rest on April 25, 2022 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.
Rose Lee was born August 5, 1927 in South Boston, Virginia to the late Author Lee Barksdale and Emma Lee Barksdale.
She was married to the late Frank Womack, Sr. She loved fishing, cooking and sewing.
Rose accepted Christ at a young age at New Arbor Baptist Church and attended the Mary Bethune School in Halifax Virginia.
Rose Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Author Lee Barksdale and Emma Lee Barksdale; her husband, Frank Womack, Sr.; three sons, Thomas Womack (Fran), Johnnie Womack, and Frank Womack, Jr.; one daughter, Dorothy Womack Harris (Cake); three sisters, Isbelle Williams (Cat), Annie Barksdale (Lizzie)and Margaret Barksdale, one brother, Calvin Barksdale (Skeat).
Rose Lee leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Shirley Walker (Bud); seven grandchildren, Rosa, Sherman, Joy, Angel, Dewayne, Donnelle, Sasha and Lita, Seventeen great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Womack Carter and Ida Barksdale, a devoted niece, Mary Howerton; and a host of relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Rose Lee Barksdale Womack will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Mt. Pleasant CME Church, 7184 Mountain Road, Halifax Virginia, Rev. Evon Bush, Officiating and Rev. William Howerton, Eulogist.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 13 , 2022 from 12:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Danville, Virginia.
The family is asked to assemble at the residence 1181 Pine Ridge Trailer Vernon Hill, Virginia 24597 at 12 noon on the day of service.
