Mr. Stephen Gregory Harris of 1179 Wilson Rd. Virgilina, Virginia entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2020 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC.

Mr. Harris was born in Halifax County, Virginia on January 14, 1966 to the late Johnie T. and Laurine Y. Harris.

He attended Halifax County Senior High School and after graduation he loved to work. 

He held so many jobs, they were too numerous to name. Stephen enjoyed fishing, working his wood splitter and best of all TALKING and SINGING.

 

People affectionately called him "Stevie" and some of his favorite sayings were "Wellll!", "I ain't mad at ya" and "Get up out that bed, Today ain't your birthday"!! .. He enjoyed life and made friends wherever he went. You would have to know Stevie to understand him because he never met a stranger. He lived his life until the end and pursued his goals until he could do no more.

 

Stephen accepted Christ and was baptized in Jesus name at Morning Star Holiness Church.

 

His friends and family will miss him dearly. So rest easy Stevie. You've earned your reward.

Baby brother we loved you and will continue to love you so take your rest because God loved you best.

 

Stephen was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. Johnie T. Harris and Laurine Younger Harris; two brothers, Mr. George Bailey and Mr. John Timothy Harris, a nephew, Ronald Taylor, Jr.,.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Mr. Alonzo Morris III of Danville VA.; a brother, Mr. Frank Davis Harris of Virgilina, VA.; sisters, Mrs. Esther Mosley (Carl) of South Boston, VA., Ms. Audrey Jefferson of Durham, NC., Mrs. Jeanette Taylor (Ronald) of Gonzales LA., Mrs. Sheila Tucker (Allen) of Danville, VA., and Mrs. Susan “Della” Jordan (Jay) of Boydton, VA.; a grandson, Zyrie Alonzo Morris; aunts, Ms. Mattie Holt of New, Jersey, Mrs. Hattie Green and Ms. Elma Lee both of Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of life service for Mr. Stephen G. Harris will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Saint Luke Apostle Church, 1552 Ridge St., South Boston, Virginia 24592, Bishop Harry J. Betts, Pastor and Eulogist. The family is asking relatives and friends to assemble at 11:45a.m. on the day of the service, at the church.
