Mr. Darrin Garfield Robinson Sr. (Derk) formerly of Dewitt, Va. (Dinwiddie County) passed away June 29, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas.
Darrin was the son of Mrs. Gloria R. Harper Bradshaw and Mr. Milton L. Drumgoole (Mary). He was baptized at an early age at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church McKenney, Va. He was a graduate of the Dinwiddie County Sr. High School Class of 1986.
Darrin served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He was employed at Lowe's and the Defense Distribution Depot Richmond, Va. before transferring to DRMO San Antonio on Fort Sam Houston as a Disposal SVC Representative.
Derk, as he was affectionately known, was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by his devoted grandmothers, Mrs. Jennie M. White Robinson and Mrs. Thersa Drumgoole; devoted grandfathers, Mr. Parker Robinson and Mr. Milton Drumgoole; a brother, Harry Drumgoole; and two uncles, Theodore White and James White.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his parents; his wife, Mrs. Paula Harps Robinson; his devoted aunt and godmother, Ms. Alma M. Robinson; daughter, Porshell Davis; son, Darrin G. Robinson Jr.; two stepsons, Jayrod and Rodrick Robinson; two sisters, Jennifer and Shelby Harper; five brothers, Brian, Jamel, Marcus, Marco Harper and Lomont Drumgoole (Laura); three grandchildren; three godsisters, Icylite (Peaches), Teresa Graves and Sharonda (Duck); five nephews and nine nieces; devoted aunts, Carrie White, Viola Dawkins, Margaret Patterson, Vivian Drumgoole and Sue Marks; eight uncles, three devoted, John (Gail), James (Carlin), Sherman (Danella); three great-aunts and one great uncle; many devoted friends and cousins, among them Jeff Rhodes, Brad Jordan, Kim Davis,Garrick Wallace, Wilbert Parham and Terrence Winfield.
Homegoing services for Mr. Darrin Garfield Robinson Sr. will be conducted on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at 1:00pm from the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 24910 Ridge Road, McKenney, Va.,Rev. Carlos Jordan, Pastor. Rev. Alexander Williams, Big Bethel Baptist Church, McKenney, Va. will officiate. Remains will lie in state at 11:45 a.m. the day of the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery,10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va. on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at noon.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, Va. 23803.
