Ms. Bertha Greene, of 1900 Dupuy Road, Petersburg, Va., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in the Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.
Bertha was born on September 1, 1948, to the late Peter and Mary Lou Green of Stony Creek, Va.
She was educated in the Sussex County School System.
Bertha was retired from Seward Luggage in Petersburg, Va. She was a member of Holy Ghost Living Tabernacle Church, McKenney,Va.
Including her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by two brothers, James Green and Joseph Green; a nephew, Eric Green; and a special friend, William Jones Sr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, a devoted daughter, Stephanie Hobbs (Timothy) of Petersburg, Va.; a devoted son, Brian Green of Petersburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Jayla Hobbs and Jahiem Hobbs, both of Petersburg, Va.; godchild, Talia Goode of Petersburg, Va.; stepchildren, Irene Phillips (Gerald) of Petersburg, Va., William Jones Jr. and Stacey Jones, both of Chesterfield, Va.; eight sisters, Annie Williams (Carl),Hester Green(devoted), Joyce Green, Mary Green, Gail Green, all of Petersburg, Va., Kathleen Burrow (Charles) Disputanta, Va., Marva Rogers (Earl) of Randallstown, Md., and Grace Green-Okitikpi of Minneapolis,Minnesota; one brother, David Green of New York, N.Y.
Bertha is also survived by her extended family, foster mother, Bertha Boisseau; foster sisters, Audrey Hall, Hattie Hall, Mary Freeman, Sue Marks, Emma Meade, Nancy Jones, Joan Howard and Jeannie Boisseau; foster brothers, Willie White, Joe Boisseau and Clarence Boisseau; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Homegoing services for Ms. Bertha Greene will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, from the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va., with Apostle Kenneth Johnson Jr., Pastor of Holy Ghost Living Tabernacle Church, Officiating. Remains will rest at the church at 10:45 a.m. on the day of the service. Interment will be in the Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg, Va.
