God called home Clinton W. Smith, affectionately known as “Boo”, of 907 Chesnut Street, Petersburg, Va. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his residence.
He worked at I.P.K. and Garfield Construction for a number of years. He loved to fish, ride his bike, and watch old westerns and cartoons. Clinton was a man of many talents – from paving, roofing and brick laying – just to name a few.
Clinton was preceded in death by this parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert and Ella Smith; brothers, Roosevelt, Jake, Ephraim, Richard and James; sisters, Queen Bailey and Mary Blowe; niece, Marsha Bailey; nephews, Clinsey Blowe and Tony Bailey.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Clinton Smith Jr. of Detroit, MI and Clinton McCrae of Petersburg, Va.; three daughters, Monique Gill of Detroit, MI, Lakeisha McCrae and Yolanda McCrae, both of Petersburg, Va.; aunt, Rosa Lee Smith of New York;grandchildren, Corey Smith, Antonio Smith, Carlos Smith, Adriena Smith,Carmen Gill, London Gill and Asia Gill; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them, devoted nieces, Malinda Blowe and Shirley Jones of Petersburg, Va., devoted nephews, Ernest Blowe and Ronald Blowe (Joyce) of Petersburg, Va., and devoted cousins, John Smith and June Smith of Petersburg, Va., and devoted friends, Jacqueline McCrae of Petersburg, Va. and Cynthia Gill of Detroit, MI.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Virginia, MCV Massey Cancer Center, the Southside Regional Medical Center and the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment for all acts of care and support during Mr. Smith’s declining health and since his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Clinton W. Smith will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1:00pm from the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23803, with the Rev. Roy Smith and the Rev. Jane Smith officiating. Remains will rest in the church one hour prior to service.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence of Ms. Linda Blowe (niece), 822 North Gillfield Drive, Petersburg, Va. 23803 at 12:00pm on the day of the service.
Public viewing will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Avenue, Petersburg, Va. Condolences may be registered online at www.jldodsonandsons.com
