Mr. Willie Herman Dodson affectionately known as “Sike”, 70, of 8323 Richardsonwood Rd. Brown Summit, North Carolina formerly of 596 Motleys Mill Road Chatham, VA, entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2017 at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro.
Willie was born January 11, 1947 to the late Charlie George Dodson and Fannie Robertson Dodson Anderson in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System and he was previously employed by Dan River Mills for 39 years.
Sike loved to make people laugh and was adored by both family members and friends. Sike loved baseball and enjoyed spending time with his family during family gatherings.
He was predeceased by his mother and father and by his brothers, Lawson Dodson Sr., Walter Dodson Sr. and James Dodson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, devoted daughter Mantrese LaShonda Dodson, of Greensboro, NC, who cared for him during the time his health declined; two sons, Willie Jermille Dodson, of Greensboro, NC and Checo Miguel Childress of Danville, VA; three brothers, Joe Dodson (Dollie) of Java, VA, Raleigh Dodson and Daniel Dodson (Violeen) both of Chatham, VA; one sister Margaret Robertson (Kenneth) of Chatham, VA; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Dodson of Chatham, VA and Alma Dodson of Danville, VA; one aunt, Rebecca Barksdale of Java, VA; one granddaughter, Cincere Childress of Greensboro, NC; three grandsons, JaTavious Childress, Carien Childress and DeVonte Grover, all of Danville, VA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Willie H. Dodson will be on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home, 707 Wilson Street, Danville, Virginia with Pastor Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Eulogist and Elder Ella Louise Pass, Officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Burial Park, Danville Va.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at 8323 Richardsonwood Rd., Browns Summit, North Carolina 27214 at 11:45am on the day of the service.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm.
