Samuel Lewis "Chuck" Hatch, 54, of 230 S. Beaverdam Road, Waverly, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010, at MCV Hospital, Richmond, Va.
He was born March 7, 1956, to the late Albert and Ella Ridley Hatch. He was employed by Isle of Wight Trucking Co. and was proud member of Friendly Riders Motorcycle Club. "Chuck," as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was well loved by all who knew him. He never met a stranger. He was a family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren and all his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings James, Albert and Alice.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 11 years, Beverly, who he adored; four daughters, Sherelle Parson of Waverly, Senawetta Parson of Dendron, Beverly Rawls (Travis) of Franklin and Carrie Rawls of Jarratt; one son, Dexter Rawls (Tamico) of Emporia; one brother, Lorenzo Hatch of Richmond; four sisters, Irene Shaw (Horace), Christine Hatch, Ethel Walker, all of Waverly, and Evangelist Ella White (Cedric) of Dinwiddie; one aunt, Sarah Gholson of Richmond; three uncles, William Hatch (Ella), Louis Hatch (Ruth) and Samuel Hatch (Mary), all of Richmond; three brothers-in-law, Tyrone Harrison (Sharon), Robert Harrison Jr. (Margaret) of Petersburg and Renee Harrison of Emporia; 11 grandchildren, Khalil Ransome, Leilani Evans, Iyana Parson, Shacalle Ferguson, Daiquan Wright, Daionna Wright, Devin Rawls, KeAva Smith, Takiesha Rawls, Takia Rawls and Tsuhiye Barnes; a host of other relatives and friends; among them devoted friends, John Hamlin, Brian Flythe, Wilson Clary and Donnie Drew.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 14, in the Chapel of J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, Waverly, with Elder Eddie C. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Waverly Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 11 a.m. at the residence the day of the service. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the staff of J.L.
