Obituary
Alfonzo “Beeda” Lipford was born on November 2, 1944, in Pittsylvania County Virginia to the late Alfonzo Lipford, Sr., and the late Janie Fitzgerald Lipford. His mother later united in marriage to the late King Arthur Jones who became his stepfather.
“ Beeda”, as he was fondly called, departed this life on Saturday, January 13, 2023, at the Beacon Place Hospice/Pallative Care facility located at 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro after a brief illness.
It is not known when Beeda professed hope in Christ, but he was asked on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, he acknowledged and he confessed his faith in Jesus who died and rose again to redeem us back to God on his bed of affliction. This blessed occasion was witnessed by Elder Ella Jones Pass and Evangelist Wanda Fitzgerald.
His maternal grandparents were the late James Fitzgerald and the Late Eula Dawson Fitzgerald, and his paternal grandparents were the late John and Rosa Lipford.
Alfonzo was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public Schools. He loved to work to ensure that he would always have a nice new ford automobile for his transportation needs as well as others prior to losing his eye sight. Although Beeda considered himself shame, he was in himself a great comedian. He and his mother could always put a smile on your face or a good belly laugh with their sense of humor.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was predeceased in death by his sister, Helen Lipford Carter, and three brothers; Herman Lipford, Curtis Lipford, and Hosea Jones.
Beeda leaves to cherish his memories: a four brothers, Latin Lipford (Betty) Blairs, Virginia, Amos Jones (Karen) of Java, Virginia, Otis Jones of Baltimore, Maryland and Robert Jones (Shirley) of District Heights, Maryland; four sisters, Mae Arthur Jones and Faith Childress both of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jean Jones of Washington, D.C. and Gloria Johnson of Danville, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Richard Carter of Dryfork, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Rosa Jones of Chatham, Virginia; beloved aunt, Ella Pearl Fitzgerald Jones and Naomi Fitzgerald, the last of their generations; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
