Obituary
Mr. David “Jerome” Saunders entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia.
David J. Saunders was born on August 25, 1957 to the late Rev. William and Eva Saunders in Danville, Virginia. He was the third and youngest child born to this union. He was affectionately known as “Jerome” and sometimes “Rome.”
He attended school in Washington, DC, and later moved back to Danville, Virginia, where he was employed at Memorial Hospital. He became a devoted member of the Bennett Memorial Baptist Church, where he diligently and proudly served as an usher.
He is preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandmother, and two uncles.
He will be loved and missed by many.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories two daughters, Janel Totten, Sheronica Richardson; one son Tramaine Richardson; one sister Catherine Jackson (Carl); one brother William Saunders Jr. (Gail); three aunts Kay George; Carol Mitchell (Henry); Laura Barber (James); six grandchildren, JaRon Totten, JaKera Wagstaff, JaQuan Wagstaff, Aidan Sneed, Tristan Sneed, Quadarrius Richardson and a host of great grand kids, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. He will be loved and missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, fraternal grandmother, and two uncles.
Celebration of Life Services for Mr. David “Jerome” Saunders will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Bennett Memorial Baptist Church, 165 Levelton Street, Danville Virginia, 24541. Rev. Voight Hairston, Officiant and Minister Ke’Aunte Clements, Eulogist.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville Virginia.
The family is asked to assemble at the residence, 102 Bishop Avenue, Danville, Va. at 9:45 a.m. on the day of service.
