Obituary
Mr. James Arthur Wimbush of 103 Crosland Avenue, Apt.10, Danville, Va., departed this life on July 17, 2022 at SOVAH Health in Danville, Va.
James was born in Danville Virginia and was the son of the late Herbert Swanson Wimbush, Sr., and Shirley Barksdale Wimbush.
He was a Chef by trade and enjoyed cooking for all. James joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Java, Virginia at a young age. He graduated from Chatham High School and went on to join the United States Army.
James leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Jamari James Wimbush of Roanoke, VA; his mother, Shirley B. Wimbush of Chatham, VA; three brothers, Herbert Swanson Wimbush Jr., of Danville, VA, Ernest Stone Wimbush, (Tonya) of Chatham, VA and Walter Bruce Wimbush of Danville, VA; two sisters, Maxine Cannon (Ronald) of Cascade, VA and Sharon Bennett (Danyon) of Kathleen, GA; two aunts, Daisy Echols of Keeling, VA and Lillie Fitzgerald (John) both of Chatham VA; uncles, Jesse Lee Fitzgerald and Henry "June" Barley (Roberta) of Danville, VA; auntie Bernice Stone (Joe) of Danville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life services for Mr. James Arthur Wimbush will be on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 13412 Halifax Road, Java, Virginia 24565. Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Trinity Missionary Baptist Church 233 Halifax St. Petersburg, Virginia Officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence of his brother, Walter B. Wimbush, 121 Chatham Court Danville, Virginia at 11:45am on the day of the service and where they will also be receiving relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm. at the J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment- Danville Virginia.
Masks are required at all visitations and services. Attendees are asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
