Obituary
Mrs. Bernice Louise Seward entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at River View on the Appomattox Health &Rehab Center Hopewell, Virginia.
She was born on February 1, 1950, to the late Earl Fawks and Emma Louise Seward Stith, who survives.
Bernice was educated by Luneneburg County Public School System and John Tyler Community College School of Nursing, where she became a certified nursing assistant. She was employed at Battlefield Park Health Care Center and Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center as a Nursing Preceptor prior to retirement.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Fawks; a son, Tasso Hazelwood; two brothers, Edward Stiff, Jr. (Puddin) and Tasso Hazelwood; and a sister, Mary Frances Seward.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Emma L. Stith; three sons, Raymond Hazelwood, Ricardo Hazelwood and Ronnille Seward (Leanette); a brother, Linwood Richard Seward; a sister, Janice Stith-Wiggins (Albert); eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at J.L. Dodson Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville, Avenue, Petersburg, Virginia. Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Anderson, Officiating.
Interment will be at Blanford Cemetery, 319 South Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia.
The family is asked to assemble at 12:45 p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment on the day of service.
