Mary Alice was born on November 10, 1945, in Disputanta, Virginia, to the late Abraham and Hester Jones. She departed this life on June 24, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Walker Sr.; brother, Clarence Jones; Uncle Lloyd Tucker; sister-in-law, Sydna Tucker; dear sisters Sheila Johnson and Dora Bates.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Jacqueline Crawford (Carl), John Walker, and Jennifer Butts. Her brother’s Fred “Abo” Tucker and Otha “Delo” Walker. Her Sister-In Law’s Carolyn Jones and Gloria “Glo-Co” Jones. She was the proud grandmother of Nitika Street (Demetrius); David Walker (Janie); Timothy Walker; Montez Walker (Gabby); Courtney Desmore; Tyre Desmore (Khadija); Jenasia Wheeler (Daiquan); Brianna Desmore; Johnathon Walker (Kelly); Percy Graves; Jason Butts; and Jasmine Butts. She was also blessed with 30 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. Special people in her life Tonda Allen, the Bates family, the Burrow family, Ms. Kitty, Katrina Morgan and the By Grace Home Health Care Family.

A proud graduate of J.E.J. Moore High School, Class of 1964, Mary sang in the choir and played basketball. She dedicated many years of service to Winn-Dixie, where she managed the deli and became well known for her beautifully decorated cakes. She later continued her career at Southside Virginia Training Center, where she faithfully served until her retirement.

Together with her late husband, John, Mary helped create countless cherished memories by opening their home to family and friends. She prepared delicious meals while John entertained guests with music and drinks, making their home a gathering place filled with laughter, fellowship, and love. If you were ever looking for them on a Sunday, chances were you would find them at the flea market, enjoying one another's company.

A devoted member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ, Mary faithfully served as the mother of the Church. She was active on the Usher Board, with the Kitchen Ministry, and she sang in the Choir. Before her health declined, she often enjoyed after church socials with the ladies of Trinity.

More than anything, Mary loved her family. She found her greatest happiness in bringing people together, sharing meals, celebrating milestones, and creating lasting memories. Her love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
