Obituary
Jesus promises a place in his house, providing hope of eternal life and a future reunion with loves ones. John 14: 1-3
Patti Page Hubbard O’Neal lovingly known as “Nanny P “of 130 Windy Lane, Apt. 2, Rocky Mountain, Virginia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Patti was born to the late Dallas and Stella Christine Mitchell Hubbard in Chatham, Virginia. She was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School System and graduated from Gretna Senior High School Class of 1973.
At an early age Patti had accepted Christ and was baptized at Sandy Hill Baptist Church in Sandy Level, Virginia. Later in her life she became a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church where she served the Lord tirelessly until her health and mobility became an issue.
Patti was employed by several cut and sew manufacturers in Franklin County. Bristol, 1993; Virginia Apparel 1997 and Pluma in 1999. She often “brought work home” as she loved to make clothes for herself, her family and friends.
As times changed and the cut and sew opportunities began to fade, Patti made a decision to go to college. She attended Patrick Henry Community College where she earned an administrative associate's degree in criminal justice in 2001. Mom also went on to become employed with the Franklin County School System. She served as a dedicated board member at Step Inc for a number of years until her passing. Over the years she would volunteer at various church, community and charity programs, such as making apple pies with at risk youth, boy scouts, summertime lunch programs and the list goes on.
Patti’s faith in God was strong because she was “Blessed and Highly Favored In the Lord” and she would let you know that even if you were a complete stranger. If you crossed paths with Patti, she left a meaningful, faithful, positive memorable message that you could not
forget. Mom influenced many lives; she supported and facilitated growth in many people that crossed her path regardless of if their intentions were good or bad.
In addition to her parents Patti was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Junior Hubbard, Phillip Hubbard, Joseph Hubbard and a grandson Jamal Anderson.
Those left to cherish memories of her are daughters, Sonya O’Neal of Chesterfield, Virginia and Sylvia O’ Neal of Roanoke, Virginia; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Mary Prunty of Chatham, Virginia and Evangelist Deborah Daye of Danville, Virginia ; a devoted sister in law Katie Hubbard of Chatham, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
