Obituary

Ms. Sue “Baby Sis” Glass, 73, of Danville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in her hometown, Danville, Virginia, at Sovah Hospital.

Born on January 24, 1952, in Danville, Virginia, Sue was the beloved daughter of the late Jim Henry and Nellie Glass. She was affectionately known as “Baby Sis,” a nickname that reflected her cherished place within a large and loving family.

Sue graduated from Langston High School in Danville, Virginia. After completing her education, she moved to New York in pursuit of a better life where she lived most of her adulthood with her sister and best friend Joylette, brother-in law, Adolph and their children, Linette & Cherese. Her time in New York marked the beginning of a long and dedicated career at ADEMCO (Honeywell) in Syosset, NY, from which she eventually retired. Upon returning to Danville, she continued to serve her community as a bus aide for the City of Danville.

A woman of faith, Sue was a member of Camp Grove Baptist Church. She was known for her laid-back and caring nature that endeared her to all who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures, reading a good book, playing cards with friends and family, and listening to music on Friday evenings. Those moments brought warmth and laughter into the lives of those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters—Joylette Vereen, Annette Garner, Mary Alice Glass, Lorrine Glass, and Irene Glass—and five brothers—James Glass, John Glass, Robert Glass, Abraham Glass, and Alphonzo Glass.

Sue’s memory will be lovingly held by her two brothers, David Glass (Debra) of Pleasantville, NJ; and Archie Glass (Mary) of Danville, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia.  Pastor Jonathan King, Trinity Baptist Church, Eulogist.

A viewing will be held one hour prior to service.  Interment will be at Highland Burial Park, 3059 North Main Street, Danville, Virginia.

The family is asked to assemble the residence of her niece, Cherese Vereen, 511 Westview Drive, Danville, Virginia at 11:45 a.m. on the day of service.

Professional funeral services have been entrusted to the staff of the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main St. Danville, Va., Bishop Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Funeral Director., Elder Monica Martin, Funeral Directress (434)799-9262.
