On Monday, December 24, 2018, Jesus came to the residence of 105 Grigg Street, Petersburg, Virginia and quietly took “Queen” to her heavenly home to be absent from the body and present with the Lord for eternal rest. She was born on May 13, 1941 to the late Mr. Charlie James Taylor and Mary Alice Taylor. One son, Franklin Lamar Smith, preceded her in death along with one sister, Doris Lee Taylor.
Susie, known as “Queen” by family and friends, accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age, and was a member of the New Shiloh Baptist Church. She received her education in the Halifax County Schools. Queen helped her mom raise her five younger sisters, and later, married and became a house-wife/stay-home mom.
She was a loving, caring, and a good spirited person who always had a smile on her face. Queen touched the hearts of many people in so many ways. She showed and gave unconditional love to her family and friends. She always had a joke to tell and loved to have fun with her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish memories to her devoted husband of forty-nine years, Franklin Daniel Smith of Petersburg, Virginia; two grandchildren, Troy Smith and Shakira Bell; one great-granddaughter, Toryana Smith all of Dinwiddie, Virginia; four sisters, Mary Robinson of Phenix, Virginia, Betty Johnson (Henry), Alice Scott, and Joyce Taylor all of Brookneal, Virginia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
